What an iPad screen repair costs depends mainly on three things: the model, whether only the glass or the complete display needs to be replaced, and the replacement part. That is why there is no single price. You can see the price for your model at any time in the repair configurator.
If your display has only just cracked, read iPad display cracked: keep using it or is it dangerous? first. If it is a school iPad, you can find the first steps in School iPad broken – what now?.
Why every iPad model has its own price
Not every iPad is the same. Between a standard iPad, an iPad mini, an iPad Air and an iPad Pro there are big differences in the display, and they are reflected in the replacement part.
- Size. A 12.9-inch display needs more material than the 8.3-inch display of the iPad mini.
- Technology. Older standard iPads have a classic LCD. Newer iPad Pro models use more complex displays, such as Mini-LED on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro from 2021 onwards or OLED on the 2024 iPad Pro.
- Construction. On some models, the glass and the screen are separate parts; on others, they are firmly bonded together. More on this in the next section.
- Features. Depending on the model, touch, Apple Pencil support and sensors sit in the display assembly and are then part of the replacement part.
You can find out which iPad you have under Settings › General › About or in the small print on the back. Use this name to select your model in the iPad repair section.
Only the glass or the complete display?
This question makes a big difference to the price. An iPad display consists of the glass with the touch layer, also called the digitizer, and the actual screen underneath.
On some models, especially older standard iPads such as the iPad 10.2 from 2019 to 2021, the two parts are separate. If only the glass is cracked and the image underneath is fine, replacing the glass is enough there. On many newer models, such as the iPad Pro and most iPad Air models, the glass and the screen are firmly glued together. Then the complete display is replaced, even if only the glass has a crack.
If the screen shows lines or spots or stays black, the screen itself is usually damaged, even with separate construction. Then replacing the glass is not enough. The configurator shows you which options are available for your model: if it lists “Glass (digitizer)”, replacing only the glass is possible.
What role the replacement part plays
The replacement part itself also affects the price. Original parts from the manufacturer and compatible parts from other manufacturers differ in price, origin and sometimes in details such as colour reproduction or brightness. For smartphones, we offer several display qualities to choose from, depending on the model. For iPads, there is one display option per model, and its price is shown in the configurator.
Whatever the part: you get a 12-month warranty on the part and the work carried out. The conditions are set out on our warranty page.
What else can change the price
Sometimes a cracked display is not the only damage. After a fall, the frame may be bent, for example, and moisture can affect other components. If the fault is unclear, we first check the iPad for a fixed inspection fee, which is credited if the repair goes ahead.
If we find further damage during the repair, we ask you first. We do not repair anything without your approval, and you decide whether to order any further work.
If an insurer is to pay, it may, depending on its terms, require a written cost estimate in advance. You book it with us as a fixed fee paid in advance. If you then have the repair done with us, the fee is credited. If no repair follows, the fee remains payable. When you send in via the website, you do not need a cost estimate. For school iPads, we have put everything together on our school iPad repair page.
You can send the iPad in for repair: within Germany, shipping for repairs is free both ways. From the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Austria, you pay a one-time shipping fee for the outbound trip, and return shipping is free. Or you bring it to our shop at Blondelstraße 10 in Aachen.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no price for the display repair here?
Because there is no single price. It depends on the model, on whether only the glass or the complete display is replaced, and on the replacement part. Prices for replacement parts also change over time. That is why you can see the current price for your model in the repair configurator, free of charge and without registering.
Can I have only the glass replaced on my iPad?
That depends on how it is built. On some older standard iPads, the glass and the screen are separate, so replacing only the glass is possible if the image is undamaged. On many newer models, both parts are glued together, so the complete display is replaced. The configurator shows whether your model allows a glass replacement.
Is a display repair worth it for an older iPad?
Often yes, especially if the battery and housing are still in good shape and the iPad still gets the apps you need. Compare the repair price in the configurator with the price of a new device and think about how long you want to keep using the iPad. For very old models without current updates, buying new can make more sense.
Do I need a cost estimate, depending on my insurer?
Some insurers accept the invoice after the repair, others require a written cost estimate in advance. You book it with us as a fixed fee paid in advance. If the repair is then done with us, the fee is credited; otherwise it remains payable. The simplest way is to ask your insurer beforehand which proof is enough.
Conclusion
What an iPad screen repair costs is determined by the model, the construction and the replacement part. On some models, replacing the glass is enough; on many newer ones, the complete display is replaced. You can see the price for your iPad at any time in the repair configurator, and you can find all iPad models in the iPad repair section.
