If liquid has entered your smartphone, do not continue using or charging it. Switch it off if it is safe to do so. Avoid repeated attempts to turn it on and arrange for a professional inspection.

First steps after liquid contact

  • Only disconnect a charger if it is safe to do so. Do not touch wet power connections.
  • Switch off the smartphone if possible and remove only easily detachable accessories.
  • Gently dab the outside with a soft cloth.
  • Do not use a hair dryer or heater, and do not insert any objects into the ports.

Do not attempt to create a new backup if the device is wet or acting strangely. Check existing backups from another device. Inform the workshop which data is important.

Why rice is no substitute for repair

Rice does not fix damage that has already occurred inside the device. Particles can also get into openings. Even if the surface appears dry, this does not mean the device can be safely used or charged.

What information helps with the inspection?

State the model, the liquid involved, and the approximate time of contact. Describe whether the device was charged or switched on afterwards and which functions have failed. The water damage inspection clarifies the potential scope of repair; the symptoms alone are not enough for this.

Repair or data recovery?

Before placing an order, discuss whether the priority is continued use of the device or recovering important data. Data recovery must be technically assessed. Neither repairability nor data recovery can be guaranteed in advance.

Consequential damage and costs

Liquid damage can affect multiple components and cause further failures later on. Clarify the inspection order and potential costs in advance. Additional work requires your approval. You can find the terms regarding spare parts and repairs under warranty; have any unanswered questions clarified before placing an order.
